We Insist!

We Insist! brings together five Detroit artists to share their protest music, from futurist pop to traditional blues. Detroit’s musical legacy connects to justice movements throughout its history. The artists in this intergenerational program offer a live playlist showcasing the sounds of Detroit empowerment in the spirit of Max Roach’s 1960 jazz album commemorating the centennial of the Emancipation Proclamation. Detroit’s “Queen of Blues” Thornetta Davis, jazz musician Tony Holland, percussionist Ben Hall, songwriter Supercoolwicked, and “jester in the temple” ARRN share the stage, the love, and their version of hope. We welcome you to join us as we imagine today and tomorrow through the music of resilience.

We Insist! will be presented on Friday, June 3 from 7:30 to 9pm. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance.

Reserve your tickets and get full location and scheduling information through The Momentary.
